SUNY To Offer Enrollment To Unenrolled Howard University Students

The transition that young adults have when going from high school to college can be a pretty tough thing to navigate. Just learning how to handle the responsibilities of handling your own education, perhaps in another state or city that you've never been in before, can be overwhelming.

Now, imagine the overwhelming feeling that you deal with, and then you find out that your college has canceled your enrollment, potentially leaving you in limbo. That is exactly what's going on with more than 500 students who were accepted at Howard University in Washington, D.C., this week, as they have recently been unenrolled by the institution.

According to multiple outlets including ABC News, CNN, The Guardian, AP News, and more, 502 students had thier enrollment status canceled, and the reasoning is causing many people to scratch their heads.

The SUNY and CUNY To Offer Enrollment To Impacted Howard Students

New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced that SUNY and CUNY will offer expedited enrollment in New York's schools to the 500 students who were impacted by Howard's confusing decision.

The historically Black university that was founded in 1867 has served as a beacon for many black and other disadvantaged Americans to advance their education. However, the decision to cut the enrollment for hundreds of kids is causing many folks around the nation to question what is happening on campus.

In addition to the expedited enrollment for the young adults, New York's 89 SUNY and CUNY schools are also offering a tuition credit to help reimburse the students who have lost thier enrollment deposits at Howard.
