It looks like February is going to continue what January started, weather-wise, in Western New York. A look ahead is calling for a very cold second month of the year. While we will have to wait until Monday to see if Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow, I am here to tell you we will get six more weeks of Winter no matter what.

February Freeze Expected For Western New York

A look at the long-range forecast from accuweather.com shows that Western New York won't be thawing out anytime soon. In fact, it looks like our high temperatures won't get above freezing until Valentine's Day this year, and that won't last long.

According to their long-range forecast, we are looking at only 8 days in the entire month of February that will get warmer than 32 degrees. Four of those days are expected to come right at the end of the month.

Most days, the highs will be in the teens or low 20s wtih snow or ice expected over half the time as well.

The weather doesn't look like it will improve much after February.

Spring Weather Forecast For Western New York

This year, there will be a struggle between Winter and Spring in the 716, with winter lasting alittle bit longer than normal. We could see snow showers into March and even early April.

So I guess now is the time to mentally get perpared for six more weeks of Winter no mater if a shadow is seen or not on Gobbler's Knob.
