Jennifer Nettles just landed a great new gig. The Sugarland singer and solo star will take on Broadway in February, starring in 'Chicago the Musical.'

The singer announced her role during an appearance on the 'Today' show on Tuesday morning (Dec. 9).

“I’m gonna be on Broadway for the first time,” a beaming Nettles said. “This one makes me on fire. This one makes me thrilled.”

Nettles will play the role of Roxie Hart, a part previously tackled by Melanie Griffith, Robin Givens and Kara DioGuardi, among others. The upcoming run of 'Chicago the Musical' kicks off Feb. 2, 2015 and spans eight weeks, through March 29.

The 'That Girl' singer also took to social media to share her excitement:

Though this is Nettles' first starring role in a musical, she's got plenty of related experience. For the past five years she has hosted the 'CMA Country Christmas' program each holiday season, holding her own in duets and production numbers with some of the top stars from across all genres of music, including a recent show-stopping duet with Broadway sensation Idina Menzel on the mega hit 'Let It Go,' from the Disney blockbuster 'Frozen.'
