Could Josh Allen Be Traded Like Luka Doncic Was?
Last night, Luka Doncic made his debut with the LA Lakers. It's something that no one ever thought would happen, but it did.
Before we even get a full paragraph into this, understand that it's the last thing anyone in Buffalo would want to see happen. There's no question how much this guy is loved here. He's taken this team from an afterthought to one that seems to be a contender year after year. He's done a ton of work in our community, and he's made our city proud every time he's in public. It's nearly impossible to not love him.
While talking with some co-workers today, someone brought up the question, "If it could happen to Luka, could it happen to one of the biggest stars in the NFL? Could the Bills trade Josh Allen?" Try not to let your emotions get the best of you here. For the sake of conversation, could it happen?

No one in Dallas imagined it could happen with their star basketball player, either. Luka Doncic played for the Dallas Mavericks. He was a franchise player that everyone loved. Then, the Mavs decided to make a last-minute trade of their best player to the Lakers. Some are calling it the most inconceivable trade ever, and some will never forgive the Mavs for making it.
Is it possible? We all said that there was no way the Bills would ever trade Stefon Diggs away. Then it happened. One of the greatest in the NHL, Wayne Gretzky, was even traded from Edmonton to LA in the 80's. Anything is possible in professional sports. It's a business, and if business people think they can gain an edge, they will.

But the chance that Brandon Beane and the Bills' front office would be willing to give up everything they've built with Josh Allen and start again has to be about as close to zero as there could be. Normally, these trades happen when there's a behind-the-scenes issue that we don't see, a problem with the culture, or the player is making requests to go somewhere else. None of those things seem to be something that is associated with Allen.
After the MVP season he just had, don't be surprised if they don't just give him the keys to the city.
