No, the Key Bank Center did not start on fire. It seems like there could be a few salty Montreal fans on social media this morning.

There are a few posts that have been shared that the Key Bank Center is on fire with a bunch of fire departments responding including flames and thick, black smoke coming out of the building. These are fake pictures and are not real. But, you better believe that somehow--there are people out there that think this is real and even sharing it on social media.

The post you can see below read:

Again, this is not true.

Fans were thinking that it was made by a Montreal fan as the Buffalo Sabres are currently playing them in the 2nd round of the NHL playoffs. On Tuesday night, it was a very chippy game where the Buffalo Sabres fans were finger pointing at the Canadians for playing dirty and vice versa. The officiating on calls going both ways certainly was talked about and should have been talked about. In the playoffs, you surely will see the officials kind of give softer approach, but there were some major calls that probably should have been called and that will be the theme from Canadians fans as they woke up after a big loss in Montreal.

The Buffalo Sabres are back in Western New York as of late last night and were greeted at the Buffalo Airport by fans who were avid to greet them getting off of the plane and as they drove right by all of the fans. Here are the final 3 Sabres-Canadians fans:

  • Thursday, May 14 in Buffalo
  • Saturday, May 16 in Montreal
  • Monday, May 18 in Buffalo (if needed**)
