The National Weather Service in Buffalo has extended its Lake Effect Snow warning for parts of Western New York until Monday morning at 1 am.
Heavy Lake Effect Snow Expected For Western New York
The chance of lake effect snow has increased this weekend for parts of Western New York. There could be up to an additional 7 inches of snow or the higher elevations of ski country in the 716. Narrow bands of lake effect snow are expected to impact towns like Jamestown, Olean, Orchard Park, and Springville this weekend.
Wind speeds are expected to reach 35 miles per hour as well, which could cause white-out conditions and have an impact on travel in the area. Most of the new snow this weekend will fall in the most Southern parts of Erie County, as well as in
Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties. The greatest accumulations will be around the higher terrain of the Chautauqua Ridge and Boston Hills.
This snow will be on top of the snow we are expected tonight and into Saturday morning across Western New York.
Most of Western New York can expect to see some snowfall this weekend.
