We are lucky to have a bunch of places in Western New York where you can line dance just about every night of the week. Everybody that goes out regularly has their favorite place for different reasons. Here are some of the most popular places to go.

Line Dancing Isn't What It Used To Be

In the 90's, if someone said they were going line dancing, most people would picture a bunch of people in a barn, surrounded by hay bales with a guy in the corner on a fiddle. It was cowboy hats and big buckles while Alan Jackson sang "Chattahoochee."

While you might still find some places that will play Chattahoochee, line dancing is quite a bit different these days. Depending on where you go, you might hear more country, or a little more pop music. Every place you go, and every DJ or band that plays the music for you is different. Pitbull is huge these days.

When I say that it isn't what it used to be, I don't mean to say it's not as good. Far from it, actually. It's a riot that everyone can get into.

Choose your venue based on what you want to hear

Each of the venues below will offer you a different experience. If you're looking for live music, many of these places offer it. Others stick with DJs or a mix of live and DJ. Some are more traditional with old school music. Others will be heavier on the country but still play some hip-hop/pop. While there are some that won't play barely any country at all. It all depends on what you're looking for.

Support the venues that offer line dancing nights

The one thing that every venue will agree on is the need for patrons to support the establishment. Many places offer a cover to get in, but that doesn't cover the whole night. Bands and DJs aren't cheap. And for a business to stay in business they have to make a profit. Buy drinks when you go out. Don't just pay the cover and assume that will keep that venue afloat. Especially if you don't have to pay a cover. Then they're relying solely on drinks and food to make ends meet. Even if you don't drink alcohol, find a way to support them by buying one dish from the kitchen. Make it worth it to them to offer you a great place to line dance and have fun!
