The holiday season is just around the corner and it really feels like it snuck up on us this year.

The days leading up to Thanksgiving are a very busy time for many people, and a huge travel period for families in New York State. However, this Thanksgiving might bring an unwanted storm that could bring major headaches for those traveling by air or even vehicle next week.

Meteorologists from AccuWeather are stressing that there's a major storm that could hit with force next week, starting Monday for the Northeast including New York.

We're still too early to pinpoint the exact timing and severity of the impending storm, but right now it appears that Monday and Tuesday of next week could bring the biggest disruptions and lingering effects on Wednesday, which is one of the busiest travel days of the year.

This storm could bring heavy snow or rain, depending on your location, and the chance for heavy winds as well: those factors could really cause trouble for flights in the Northeast.

One potential outcome that forecasters are looking for is heavy snow in Minnesota, northern Wisconsin, norther Michigan and portions of Canada, which causes heavy winds and causes temperatures across New York to drop.

Lake effect snow and snow squalls could develop for parts of New York State from Monday to Wednesday, which would be most prevalent in parts of Western New York and central New York.

Another possibility would bring heavy rain and even thunderstorms to New York and that would also cause flooding and heavy winds to parts of New York State.

CNN's weather outlook brings a similar fear, although we won't know for sure until this weekend.

A storm hitting Monday-Wednesday before Thanksgiving is just about as bas as it gets for timing. Here's to hoping the forecast gets better and not worse by this weekend.
