If you ever see a moose you should never approach it. Most times they are scared of humans anyway but if you try and approach it and they get angry they could charge at you. We had the chance to go to Alaska one year and while we were there we saw tons of moose. The scary part was tourists were getting out of cars to get really close and take pictures and the guide that we were with at the time said that they get a lot of injury calls because people want a close encounter with the animals. They are like deer in the sense that they can get that close to your house and eat your bushes or get close to traffic.
Can you hunt moose in New York State?
No, you cannot hunt moose in New York State because it is illegal. If caught, you would be subject to a $2,000 fine and even jail time. If you want to go hunt moose you are going to have to get out of New York State. You would have to go out west or even Alaska or Maine if you want to hunt moose.
