Halloween is two weeks away! Have you gotten your costume ready? Better yet, have you gotten the candy ready?? There is big news about one of the most popular candies in New York State.

The debate about what candy is the best could last forever. However, I would say most people think the Reese's peanut butter cup is the elite candy and if you get the full size or king size, that is the winner.

This Halloween, you may see more people buying these candies because someone might win as much as $25,000!

Sounds great, right? But just like everything else these days, there is some drama and controversy surrounding the giveaway!

According to ABC News:

The promotion on two-cup packages reads “You could win $25,000” and, in smaller print, “See details inside.” But only after consumers have bought and opened a package can they see the small print: no purchase is necessary to enter the sweepstakes.

This comes as some in New York State are concerned that there may be a red dye ban coming that some say would affect things like Sour Patch Kids. Will they be gone from shelves?

Here in New York State, what is the most popular candy that we want the most this Halloween? According to at least one study it is Sour Patch Kids! But will they be available?

WHAT OTHER STATES ARE DOING

Perhaps you have heard about or read about the other states that are trying to end the use of red dye. It would affect certain candies like Skittles or Sour Patch Kids.

According to dailymail.co.uk, in California, they may be closer to the end for red dye candies.

If the bill becomes law, it will block five chemicals from being used in foods sold or manufactured in the state. Each of these chemicals is already banned in the EU. Among the affected chemicals in Red 3, a food dye used in some candies. Previous research linked exposure to it to cancer in mice.

WHAT ELSE IS AFFECTED?
