Mom From Hamburg In Search For a Kidney Donor, Two Years After Giving Birth
28-year-old Katilyn Elsholz of Hamburg gave birth two years ago to her daughter named, Lorelai.
Everything seemed right after she was born but right before Katilyn was discharged, doctors discovered that both of her kidneys were failing (stage-five kidney failure), according to WGRZ.
She had a rare disease called atypical HUS, which causes blood clots in the kidneys.
Katilyn was put on the donor list and put on dialysis three days a week, and because of her disease, she missed a lot of her daughter growing up in the first year of her life.
That's when her story was shared on social media and now people from all over are offering their help to get Katilyn a donor.
"It's just so heartwarming. I can’t believe all the people that have reached out. I mean, there’s people in Germany that have reached out to me as well," she said.
She hasn't found the right donor as of yet. If you would like to help or know someone who would, an O-type donor is what is needed.
