Nashville is such a tight-knit town. It features artists, songwriters, label reps, publishers, tour managers and so many more amazing people who work in country music.

It's always cool hearing stories about how certain artists make it in Music City. Few stories are as cool as Nate Barnes.

The Michigan native debuted in 2021 with his first charting single, "You Ain't Pretty," which we played here on WYRK.

Nate was signed to a record deal by newly formed Quarts Hill Records just two years ago and he said it was pure fate.

Barnes was on vacation to Gatlinburg, TN when he stopped to Nashville and met songwriter Jason Sellers, who introduced him to former Broken Bow Records head, Benny Brown who helped formed Quartz Hill Records.

Barnes was signed immediately by Quarts Hill and now, he's living out his dream in Nashville.

Barnes' new single is "Right About Me," which is a relatable song for so many out there in relationships and comes with a great melody.

Barnes is the latest featured artist this week on the "Nine O'clock News" and talked about his journey to Nashville and his new single.

You can listen below.

Thanks to Nate for joining me!
