All New York State Burger Kinds ROUNDING UP When You Order
Burger King is going to start rounding up if you are ordering food. If you are ordering, they are going to ROUND UP to the nearest nickel. They will also round down, but it seems insane that they just won't give you the exact amount of change that you are OWED when you go get food from them.
Why are they charging this way at the Burger Kings now?
The United States announced that there is going to be one last order of pennies, and then they will stop making the pennies. This is because the penny cost more than one cent to make the actual penny, which costs more money. The change is to be expected to stop making pennies in early 2026, although if you pay with pennies, they will still be legal currency.
Here is what the Cheektowaga, New York Burger King has right now as a sign by the register.
"The Federal Reserve has stopped making pennis and our local banks are already running out. If you choose to pay in cash, we will round the cost of your meal up or down to the nearest nickel. If you choose to pay with a credit or debit card you will be charged the exact price. We apologize for any inconvenience."
Will this happen even if you used a credit card?
No, if you use a credit card than the EXACT amount will be charged to your card and nothing will be rounded down or up to the nearest nickel.
