
State Troopers Step Up To Keep Holiday Roads Safe
New York State announced that they will be looking two ticket any and all drivers who are caught this week. There are going to be a ton of New York State Troopers who are looking to for people who have been drinking and driving and for people driving reckless.
New York State Governor Kathy Hochul made the announcement ahead of this week in order to make sure that people know that they will be watched. Of course, you should never drink and drive, but here is an extra reminder. It took a long time for Uber and Lyft to get to the rest of New York State, in comparison to the rest of the country, but with those services, it is easy to get a ride home when you have been drinking.
How many people have been arrested last year when they did this sting?
Of course is the holiday season but you need to be safe and unfortunately New York State troopers have pulled over and arrested and ticketed a surprising amount of people.
According to CNY:
During last year’s Thanksgiving enforcement period, police arrested 1,705 drivers for impaired driving, issued 10,078 speeding tickets, and handed out 1,702 distracted driving citations. Officials say arrests for drunk or drugged driving can cost individuals up to $10,000 in fines, legal fees, and other expenses
New York State is going to make it easier for you to travel this year
Governor Kathy Hochul announced that she will be suspending all of the road work on bridges and some of the main lines so that way people can travel faster when they are going to their holiday destination for the next couple of weeks.
