A new amusement ride is coming to Western New York.

Niagara Amusement Park and Splash World which now owns the old Fantasy Island on Grand Island is installing a new ride called the Scrambler.

The scrambler is a classic amusement park ride that whips riders around while they are suspended in the air. Riders are seated in cars clustered together and connected by beam to a central point. The clustered vehicles then are spun in one direction, while the ride as a whole spins in the opposite direction.

Currently, the park is closed for the 2021 season but is expected to open this year. They are currently hiring for ride, general, and facility maintenance.

Currently, the park does not have an opening date or operation hours but is expected to be open this Summer.

Niagara Amusement Park and Splash World was first opened in 1961 and was known as Fantasy Island. It was operated by local real estate developer Larry Grant until 1982.

In 1982 the park was bought by Charles R. Wood Enterprises and a water park was added in 1984. The park was sold to International Broadcasting Corporation in 1989 before being resold to Charles R. Wood Enterprises in 1992.

The park then was sold to Martin's Shows in 1994 and it was renamed Martin's Fantasy Island. It was then sold to Apex Parks Group in May of 2016.

The park is currently being leased to IB Parks & Entertainment, which are running Niagara Amusement Park and Splash World.
