Jimmie Allen is one of country music's fastest-rising stars, but that wasn't always the case. The singer's humble beginnings in showbiz include a brief appearance in a commercial that starred Taylor Swift.

The year was 2013, and Swift had released what turned out to be her last-ever (so far) country album, Red, the year before. The album's fourth single was "22," and Swift teamed with Diet Coke for a TV spot to promote the song that featured her musing about the lyrics out loud, as well as playing acoustic guitar and scribbling in a notebook.

Allen appears in the video in a cutaway shot that features him driving a car while dressed in a suit, singing the lyrics to himself out loud and bopping about in a comically exaggerated manner.

Jimmie Allen Is "Unwell" and We're Better for It:

Swift would depart country to become a pop superstar with the release of her next album, 1989, in 2014, but Allen's country career still lay ahead of him. After years of struggle, the singer shot to fame in 2018 with the release of his debut single, "Best Shot," which reached No. 1 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart when it was released as the lead single from Allen's debut album, Mercury Lane.

The singer's second single, "Make Me Want To," is a fun, infectious pop-country jam that he recently performed exclusively for Taste of Country when he was revealed as the latest 2019 Taste of Country RISER. Stay tuned for more exclusive content as we follow Allen on every step of his journey to country music stardom.
