There was a good chance the lightning, thunder, rain, and hail last night kept you up or woke you from sleep. It was everywhere across the region with heavy downpours of rain and hail.

The lightning was the biggest takeaway, as it lit up the night sky for what seemed like an eternity (or roughly 90 minutes).

We are not through yet, however. According to WIVB Weather, there will be a second wave of potentially severe thunderstorms cutting across the region later this morning, from 9 am to 2 pm, although they should focus south of the Buffalo metro.

Downpours, hail and heavy winds are possible, so keep that in mind if you're leaving for work or plan to be outside on Wednesday.

Sunshine should give way in the afternoon.

Let's hope it isn't quite as strong as last night's storm was.
