For only the third time this season, the Sabres have a winning streak. Yeah, ok, it’s only two games but you have to start somewhere. The Sabres closed out a two-game sweep in Florida with a 4-3 shootout win over the Florida Panthers. Thomas Vanek and Jason Pominville scored in the shootout while Ryan Miller stopped both shots he faced in the shootout and 40 for the game.

The Panthers forced overtime and the shootout when Brian Campbell scored with just 1:26 left to play. The Sabres had been clinging to a 3-2 lead since the first period but couldn’t hold on.

Nathan Gerbe scored twice and Tyler Ennis added another.

The Sabres return home to host New Jersey Saturday afternoon, then they’re off on a four game road trip beginning Sunday night in New York against the Rangers.
