How could you not be moved by the "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" trumpet solo in tribute to pitcher Jose Fernandez prior to Monday night's Miami Marlins/New York Mets game?  The entire Marlins roster of players wore number-16 jerseys in honor of  Fernandez who died early Sunday morning in a boating accident.

Fernandez was the National League Rookie of the Year in 2013 and a two-time All-Star.  As a teenager he attempted to defect from Cuba three times including once when he was thrown in jail before he was finally successful in arriving in the United States.

Just last week Fernandez posted on Instagram that his girlfriend was pregnant.  The Marlins say they'll support Fernandez' family.

First baseman Justin Bour hit his first career triple and second baseman Dee Gordon led off with his first home run of the year on the game's third pitch.
