Sally Ride – The First Woman in Space Dies at 61

TMZ is reporting that Sally Ride has passed away.  In 1983 she did something that no other woman before her had done.  She was the first woman in space.  But with that trip, she also broke another record.

She was also the youngest American (at the time) to travel to space at the age of 32.

Sally Ride passed away today at the age of 61 after a 17-month battle with pancreatic cancer.  She is survived by her husband Tam O’Shaughnessy.
