Free Outdoor Fitness Classes Coming To Buffalo This Summer
Remember in the winter when you told yourself that you'd do your best to get back in shape this summer? We are almost a third of the way through our Buffalo summer. Have you started yet? If not, there are some classes coming soon to get your fitness jump started.
Summer City Fitness is returning to Buffalo this summer
This is the 11th season of the Summer City Fitness classes in Buffalo. They're free classes meant to get people moving together and to prioritize their health. The announcement came from Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield and city officials today.
"Summer City Fitness gives Buffalo residents a free, welcoming place to get active, improve their health and connect with their community all summer long.” - Buffalo City Mayor Sean Ryan
Here's how the classes work
The classes will be led by Body of Wealth at the Johnnie B. Wiley Sports Pavilion on Jefferson Avenue. They're described as a warm-up and boot camp-style workout. They'll start this Saturday June 27th and run each Saturday (excluding the 4th of July) from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m.
All you have to do is show up. It doesn't appear as though there's any registration or signup sheet involved.
They will also be giving out fresh produce
Along with the fitness classes, participants will also be getting fresh produce from Urban Fruits and Veggies. So you will not only be able to get the physical part of the workout, but the nutritional food to go along with it.
Classes are weather permitting.
