Is Sabres captain Jack Eichel going to the New York Rangers?

They tried for him three years ago, and today, it's official. Jimmy Vesey is a Buffalo Sabre.

After three straight games of solid defensive play the Sabres let the New York Rangers run wild and it cost them in a 6-2 loss.

The game turned quickly in the first minute of the second period with the Rangers scoring twice in 19 seconds to take a 2-0 lead

Connor Sheary scored twice including one of the power play and Jack Eichel clinched it with an empty net goal in the final seconds

After their mandatory 5-day break, the Sabres returned with what appeared to be inspiration, but the result was still the same.

The Buffalo Sabres rallied from down 2-0 to the New York Rangers to force overtime where they almost won it.

The NHL announced that tickets will go on sale for the next Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic, outside between the Buffalo Sabres and New York Rangers. The New Year's Day game will be held at Citi Field in New York City and tickets are on sale Thursday on Ticketmaster or the NHL Ticket exchange. 20...

The NHL has made it official; the 10th anniversary NHL Winter Classic will feature the Buffalo Sabres and New York Rangers at Citi Field, home of the New York Mets on New Year's Day, 2018.  It'll be the first time the Sabres have been featured in an outdoor game since they hosted the first Winter Classic in 2008 at what was then known as Wilson Stadium.

It was a much better effort than the stinkbomb they laid in Montreal, but the Buffalo Sabres still came up short in Thursday night's meeting with the New York Rangers.  The Sabres did a lot of great things in the game, played great defense, created tremendous scoring chances.  They did everything they needed to do except score in a 2-1 overtime loss.

After those two awful games against the Boston Bruins last week and Jack Eichel's comments critical of the team's efforts, the Buffalo Sabres responded in a big way Tuesday night with a 4-1 win over the Rangers in New York.  And it just goes to prove that paying attention to details and making every shift count can make a huge difference.
