The Concord Historical Society Is Bringing The Country & Bluegrass Festival Back To Springville

I was born and raised in Springville. I lived there for about 25 years and never knew the significance behind the term "Fiddler's Green." It's in the name of one of the town's nursing homes, a park and now a bluegrass festival that is coming back this Saturday.

According to The Concord Historical Society, from 1818 until about 1834, Springville was actually known as "Fiddler's Green" due to the many fiddlers who would play almost nightly in the village green.

If you love bluegrass music, you're going to want to check out this upcoming festival! On Saturday July 26, The Concord Historical Society will be sponsoring the 3rd Annual Fiddler's Green Country & Bluegrass Festival in downtown Springville. There will be six bands playing six hours of continuous music at both the gazebo in Fiddler's Green Park and also on the porch of the 1890s Historical Society General Store, known as the Concord Mercantile. There will also be a square dance in the 110-year-old Concord Town Hall.

Plus there will be crafters, food vendors and live demonstrations in Fiddler's Green Park.  This year, you can even learn to clog! Boy Scout Troop 524 will be sponsoring a Wendel's Chicken barbecue from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

10 a.m. - 6 p.m.: Crafters, food vendors and live demonstrations. Colonial encampment in Fiddler's Green Park

11 a.m. - 3 p.m.: Wendel's Chicken BBQ sponsored by Boy Scout Troop 524

• 2:30 p.m. - 4 p.m.: Mercantile Musicians
• 4:30 p.m. - 6 p.m.: Niagara Frontier Fiddlers

A community round and square dance will follow from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Admission is $4 per person, and it's at The Concord Town Hall, with music by "Homemade Jam" and Caller Pete Boberg. The WNY Cloggers Association will perform during intermission.
