Have you ever seen a meteor shower? I have witnessed many over the years and they fascinate me.  One evening several years ago, I was loading up my drums at 3am after a band gig and all of a sudden I looked up and saw the most incredible meteor shower. I just sat there for the next hour and a half and watched nature do her thing. Another time, my daughter and I were in Caneadea in Allegany County on a dark August night and we watched the "shooting stars" for many hours.  Who needs television when you can see something like this?

August is traditionally the best month for a meteor shower. For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, this week will be especially good to catch a glimpse of the Perseid Meteor Shower. The only obstacle will be the full moon on Saturday night which could impede viewing.  But there is some good news. There should be about three dark nights this week that could be good to view the perseids. Yahoo.com has more on this weeks Perseid Meteor Shower
