Trisha Yearwood Gives Advice To Graduates In Commencement Speech
She's a country superstar. She's television personality on the Food Network. She's an author. She's Mrs. Garth Brooks...and more than all of that -- she's pretty smart.
Add doctor to that list of achievements too. Dr. Trisha Yearwood graduated from her alma mater, Young Harris College in Georgia, with a degree in business, where she was also given an honorary doctorate. She came back to Young Harris to give the commencement speech to the graduates and delivered a simple, strong reminder to not only the students but to everyone.
Claim your own happiness. Don’t wait for someone else to do it for you. Be happy and you will attract happy.
She also quoted Mark Twain, saying, “I never let my schooling interfere with my education.”
I think that between people's busy lives, we forget to just be happy in this crazy world. Slow it down and enjoy life and its simple pleasures. In turn, it will make you a better person and create a better world around you. No matter what you're going through, you'll get through it, and no matter how bad of a day, there's always someone who has it worse.
So put a smile on and learn to live happily with what you have. It's so plain and simple; we just forget it sometimes.
