Was That an Earthquake Near Rochester?
It's fairly rare, but New York does experience earthquakes and this morning near Rochester, NY The United States Geological Survey reports that an earthquake happened northeast of Rochester. WIVB- Channel 4 reported the earthquake occurred eight miles northeast of Webster, or 18 miles ENE of Rochester. The earthquake's depth was five kilometers.
In May, 2018 a 2.4 magnitude earthquake occurred under Lake Ontario.People in the Canadian towns of Whtiby, Ajax and Oshawa reported feeling that particular quake when it occurred.
I remember when I moved to Buffalo in 1999, there was small earthquake that happened and I felt it while sleeping, I had no idea it was actually an earthquake, I just that there was some construction or big truck passing by my apartment. But I woke to the news that there had actually been a small earthquake reported that early morning.
