New York State Needs These For Women Now

How many times have you taken your car into the shop, and you feared that the person behind the counter was going to overcharge you? Attempt to upsell you on products you don’t need?

If you’re a woman, it’s probably happened to you more often than you’d like to admit. I found myself self-diagnosing my car with mechanic terms, studying them, name-dropping the car parts and rattling off possible solutions so the people working on my car would think that I knew more than I did – and then maybe, they wouldn’t attempt to upsell me on things I really don’t need. 

Those days could all be in the past – if we had a car repair shop like this one.

Girls Auto Clinic Repair Center is based in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. It was founded in 2013 by Patrice Banks, and the first location for a car repair center of its kind opened in January 2017.

Patrice opened the car repair center with a vision: it was to become a full-service auto repair shop with woman mechanics and a nail salon for customers while they wait. It’s pretty amazing: the Girls Auto Clinic provides vehicle maintenance and repair services while striving to give women the automotive experience that they “WANT and DESERVE,” according to their website. 

Picture it now: full-service auto repair, car care memberships, women mechanics (or she-canics?), manicures and pedicures while you wait, and a beautiful waiting lounge that is specifically designed for female customers. That would be pretty sweet to have while you wait an hour for an oil change. 

Oh – and that manicure is FREE, for every visit. 

Don’t you think it’s time that an auto repair shop, like Girls Auto Clinic, opens in New York? The cost of living in New York is about 128% higher than the national average, according to Payscale. It’d be nice to not have to worry about car upsells and of course, having to pay for a mani-pedi.
