8 Years Ago: Jake Owen Hits #1 with “Barefoot Blue Jean Night”

Technically, we still have three weeks of summer left but Labor Day weekend is the unofficial end of the season for many people.

The weather is still going to be warm enough this month to have some fun in the sun though, and a great summer-anthem is Jake Owen's "Barefoot Blue Jean Night."

Released in April, "Barefoot Blue Jean Night" reached number one on the Mediabase country chart the first week of September of 2011. The song also reached the top on Billboard Country Airplay. It was Jake Owen's very first career number one hit.

Written by Eric Paslay, Andy Altman and Terry Sawchuk, it was the first single off Jake's album of the same name.

It's also the best-selling song of his career, at two times platinum.

It's hard not to sing along to "Barefoot Blue Jean Night." The first time I heard it, I knew it was going to be a smash hit for Jake.
