Everyone's a critic, huh?

A research company, called Niche, specializes in collecting the most comprehensive data about neighborhoods across the United States. Recently, Niche published their list of Best Places to Live In The Buffalo Area, ranking different towns and villages with letter grades that the “researchers” felt was appropriate.

However, they did the Town of Alden dirty.

Seriously, I am always looking for my next drive to visit Alden. Seriously – it is one of the best places to go to get away from the stress of the city and enjoy a downhome country feel…which is so often overlooked in other areas in Western New York.

So you can imagine my shock when I saw that the Town of Alden was ranked as one of the worst places to live in Western New York.

Niche gave Alden a surprisingly low rating of 3.5 stars, but the reason why baffles me.

Here is what Niche research said about the Town of Alden:

“They got good overall scores for housing and public school, but a low score for nightlife put them in the bottom 5 this year.”

Wait…what? The nightlife put them in the bottom 5?

So one of the things that makes Alden such an incredible, dainty town is why you rated it so low?

Hey researchers – I think you’re missing the point of Alden. And the residents agree.

People sounded off in the Alden NY Unfiltered Facebook group how they felt about the ranking.

One resident, named Mikala, wrote, “Most people didn’t move to Alden for the night life.”

I mean, didn’t our parents always say, “Nothing good happens after midnight?” Sounds like Alden is doing it right.

Jill, a former resident of Alden, shared her experience with nightlife back in the day. “When I lived out there my nightlife consisted of a bonfire, friends and beers. It was perfect.”

Anyone who enjoys good ‘ole country living would love a town like Alden, NY.

And if you really want your “nightlife,” well…it’s not too far of a drive to Lancaster, East Aurora, or Batavia.

I mean, why would you want to be in a bar when there are fireflies, bonfires, and beautiful starry skies?
