With some warmer weather headed our way this weekend, a lot of people are wondering if we will have a white Christmas this year in Western New York.

The early long-range forecast is encouraging, but not 100% saying that you will have to travel through snow to get to Grandma's house.

White Christmas For Western New York?

AccuWeather's long-range forecast is calling for some flurries next week. It looks like some light snow will come into Western New York on Tuesday and will be on and off through Christmas morning.

Depending on how much of the current snow melts with the rain expected on Thursday, some areas of Western New York might be seeing a green Christmas this year, while other spots, like in the Southern Tier, are looking at a White Christmas.

The forecast is calling for a warm-up on the day after Christmas as well, with rain expected into the weekend. That means any of that new snow might melt as soon as it gets here.

Overall, the chance for a white Christmas is good, but it would be a ton of snow. That means some spots in the Northtowns and north of the City of Buffalo could be seeing some green grass on Christmas morning.

The good news is that Santa doesn't need snow to make his round around the 716 on Christmas Eve, dropping off presents.
