ALERT: FIRE RISK For These Areas Of New York State

The year is fading away and the fall is here! As people across New York State decorate for the holidays, it is certainly NOT looking like Christmas just yet. In fact, it is more like the first week of summer!

For those who are trying to get the lights on the house early, this weather has been great. No freezing fingers or icy roof conditions will greet you when you try to make the house dazzle! But when you look at the forecast a little more closely, there are some concerns.

According to some reports, there is a severe risk for an extended drought and dry conditions that could pose fire dangers.

As we wrap up election coverage, and start to look toward Thanksgiving, portions of New York State are preparing for records warmth! The record high temp for November 6th, recorded at Islip Airport, was 74-degrees back in 2002, that record may be broken today!

As nice as the weather is, many who have lived in New York State their entire lives know that things could change, quickly. The Great Lakes that border New York are very warm and ripe for a good old fashioned lake effect snow storm. The wind needs to be right and the temps need to drop, but it is something to watch for as we get closer to the mid portion of November.

Be safe and smart when outdoors and using anything that could potentially spark a fire. New York State has many areas in HIGH FIRE RISK zones.
