Dolly Parton has always been up for an unusual collaboration, but her latest pairing may take the cake.

Parton is joining Kesha for a collaboration on the pop star's newly-announced album Rainbow. Parton will be one of many guest stars to appear on the new project, teaming up with Kesha for a duet on Parton's own classic "Old Flames Can't Hold a Candle to You," which reached No. 1 when Parton originally recorded it and released it as the second single from Dolly, Dolly, Dolly in 1980.

It's actually not as much of a stretch as it might seem. Kesha's mother, Rosemary Patricia "Pebe" Sebert, co-wrote the song, and Kesha previously recorded a solo acoustic rendition of "Old Flames Can't Hold a Candle to You" on her Deconstructed EP in 2013.

Dolly Parton's Old House Is For Sale!

Rainbow marks Kesha's first album since she filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against her producer, Lukasz "Dr. Luke" Gottwald, in 2014, alleging that he sexually assaulted her. The legal proceedings prevented Kesha from releasing any new recordings for the past two years. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Sony Music distanced itself from Gottwald -- whose work as a producer includes hits for Kelly Clarkson, Avril Lavigne, Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry and more -- amid the claims, which he has vigorously denied. Dr. Luke has filed a defamation suit against Kesha's lawyer over the claims, according to Rolling StoneForbes reports that he remains with Sony but is no longer the CEO of Kemosabe Records, a label he formed in partnership with Sony.

Fans will get to hear Parton's collaboration with Kesha on "Old Flames Can't Hold a Candle to You" when Rainbow drops on Aug. 11 via Kemosabe and RCA.
