The first official day of Fall in Western New York is coming on September 22nd, so what kind of weather can we expect?

Winter Channel Issues Fall Weather Predication For Western New York

If you love apple picking, prusing pumpkin patches, and sitting outside by an open fire sipping on apple cider, you might have to do so this year in your shorts and t-shirt.

The Weather Channel has issued it's annual fall weather predication and it looks like we will have a mild Autumn compared to years past. They are calling for above average temperaures in the month of September, October, and November here in Western New York.

The biggest reason for the warm-up will be the Super El Nino setting up out West that will impact our weather for the next several months.

Warm Weather Could Spell Disater In Western New York

While enjoying a warmer Fall might be something you have hoped for, it could end up being reall bad for Western New York. The warmer weather will keep the temperatures of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario warmer than normal and that could lead to more lake-effect snow storms this winter.

Lake Effect snow happens when cold air moves over warm water and on to land. If we have a warm Fall and warm start to Winter, we could have Lake Effect issues later this Winter.
