Jim Nabors is recovering after a trip to the hospital to take care of a throat problem.  The 81-year-old actor most famous for his role as Gomer Pyle was forced to cancel a personal appearance on Tuesday for treatment.  Nabors, who lives in Hawaii, was scheduled to sing the national anthem at the Pearl Harbor Naval base during a ceremony at the  U.S.S. Arizona Memorial.

In addition to his role as the goofy, but well-intentioned Marine in the 1960’s series "Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C" he also starred on "The Andy Griffith Show" and his own late 1970s series "The Jim Nabors Show."  Nabors also has had a string of albums over the years including one he earned a album with "The Heart Touching Magic of Jim Nabors."
