Josh Allen Didn’t Know About His New Buffalo Billboard

The newest billboard added to downtown Buffalo was noticed by every person who lives in Western New York, but you may be surprised to learn who was the last person to know. 

It was none other than Josh Allen himself!

Earlier this week, a billboard featuring Josh Allen and his partnership with Gatorade went up on the Statler building. It was pretty cool to see, because it is unlike any previous sign posted in the Buffalo area. It catches your attention in a very eye-grabbing way, and that’s probably because it features the most popular guy in Buffalo – Josh Allen – in the large dimensions of 120’ tall and 110’ wide. 

When workers were putting up the billboard, many of them had hoped that Josh Allen would make his way downtown to meet the crew. Little did they know, Josh Allen had no idea that this billboard was happening, and he was just “as surprised as everybody else” to see his face on one of Buffalo’s biggest buildings.

“I’ve not seen it yet and actually was unaware of it going up,” Allen told WKBW. “I was as surprised as everybody else.”

Allen was definitely shocked when he saw the posts he was getting tagged in on social media, but he still thinks it is a cool moment nonetheless. 

“You know, it’s very cool,” Allen said. “Sitting here, as now a 28-year-old man, but [thinking back] as a 6-7 year old kid, okay that is me is going crazy right now. It is an honor.”

 

“It is just really cool to have the respect of whoever did that and hopefully people like it, and if not, they can take it down. I don’t really – doesn’t bother me. I don’t like looking at myself anyways,” Allen said. 

 

“If it’s serving any inspiration to anybody down there, any kids, just know that again [I’m] a small town farm kid [with] no offer…out of high school…maybe it can inspire someone else to do it as well.”

Since the billboard has gone up, people have continued to show up to the Statler to take their required selfie in front of the Josh Allen billboard. It’s basically mandatory if you’re in the Bills Mafia and you live in Buffalo.
