The Buffalo Bills Need to Trade This Player Immediately
It's not exactly the best Monday for Buffalo Bills fans.
The Bills fell to 3-2 after a bad loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in London on Sunday. The loss, coupled with the Miami Dolphins win over the New York Giants, drops the Bills to second in the AFC East.
What's so frustrating about the Bills loss is the fact that despite the mounting injuries on defense, they still had a good chance to win...the offense let them down.
The Bills' offense finally got going towards the end of the game, but for the first three quarters, the Bills offense was awful. Multiple three-and-outs and could not get anything going in the run game.
The Bills lost Matt Milano to a leg/knee injury early on. Ian Rapoport of The NFL Network says its a leg fracture with a possible ligament injury, which would end his season. The MRI is today and the Bills will know more today, which should be given in an update by head coach Sean McDermott.
Defensive tackle DaQuan Jones also could miss significant time with a pectoral injury and they already lost cornerback Tre'Davious White for the season to a torn Achilles. The Bills also didn't have Greg Rousseau and Christian Benford, who the Bills hope to get back this Sunday.
The injuries to White and Benford meant that second-year pro Kaiir Elam had to start. He's been inactive until the game in London and was beaten multiple times by wide receiver Calvin Ridley.
Towards the end of the game, when the Bills needed a stop, they replaced Elam with Ja'Marcus Ingram at cornerback.
McDermott explained they wanted to "situationally wanted to get someone else in there."
The Bills have to trade Kaiir Elam.
It's evident that they don't want to play him when they are fully healthy. The 2022 first round pick has been outplayed by both Dane Jackson (2020 7th round pick) and Christian Benford (2022 6th round pick). The fact that he was taken out for Ja'Marcus Ingram, who was on the practice squad before Saturday, says a lot more about how dire of a situation this is.
Elam spoke on the lack of playing time.
It's best for both the Bills and Elam to move on. Elam deserves a fresh start and snaps to know for sure if he can play in the NFL, while the Bills can play the players they are comfortable with in playoff and Super Bowl aspirations.
Simply put, the Elam pick hasn't worked out.
