More Final Touches Being Added To The New Highmark Stadium
The ribbon cutting took place to officially open the New Highmark Stadium last week but theres still some work to be done. There are still final touches being added every day.
Legendary names are being added to the wall
Just like at the old Highmark Stadium, a few names are being added to the inner bowl. The rest of the names will go outside to be included in the "Family Circle." You may have seen that OJ Simpson will not be one of the names highlighted there.
So far, the names that have been erected at the new Highmark Stadium include original Bills' owner Ralph Wilson Jr., Jim Kelly, Bruce Smith, and Thurman Thomas.
The Bison Family is almost complete
Today, the baby calf bison statue was joined by its dad and its mom in the Family Circle as well. It's been a couple of weeks, but the family has finally been reunited.
The bull and the cow are said to be as massive as they claimed and will make a perfect backdrop for fans who want to come to the stadium and take some pictures on gameday (or any day for that matter). The bull is 27 feet tall and the cow is 22. You might have to back up just to get them all in the frame!
These bison aren't just statues
You may have seen the pictures of these statues before they were placed, but they're more than just statues. Just like the stadium, these things will be loaded with tech that you can't see at first glance. Not only will they have programmable lights, but they will also have the ability to blow smoke out of their nostrils for the full "angry bison" effect.
The stadium is expected to be ready to go for the new season starting in August.
