Kenmore Veteran Will Be Honored At Yankees Game Today!

One veteran from Kenmore will take 30 of his closest friends and family to the Bronx to go see the Yankees and for good reason! He will be honored during the 7th inning stretch while they play "God Bless America."

The Yankees honor a military member every home game and today (Friday) it's a dream come true for this guy when they take on the Red Sox. According to Dave McKinley,

Joyce enlisted in the Army right out high school in 1998 and re-enlisted after the September 11, 2001 terror attacks.

 

As an Army National Guardsman, he spent tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, rising from the rank of infantry soldier to Sargent.

 

Along the way, he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal (with valor) for his actions during an ambush in 2004, when he was credited for saving the lives of five of his comrades.
