Excessive rains are blamed as one of the main reasons why 990,000 gallons of waste water leaked into Lake Erie early yesterday.

Around 7am on Sunday morning, water officials say approximately 990,000 gallons of waster water were forced into Lake Erie.  According to WIVB, water officials are blaming excess rains that pushed the system to capacity for the leak.

They also say that the water has been partially treated.
