The gun laws in New York State are becoming even more strict, as there are some changes that have been made this week.

New York State is already known as the state with some of the most restrictive laws when it comes to owning, selling, and possessing guns, and even more so when it comes to handguns.

There are multiple reports that the laws will now target certain transactions as well.

"Governor Hochul signed three new laws to strengthen gun violence prevention efforts and announced a 53 percent decline in shootings statewide following pandemic-era highs".

Check Your Pistol Permit Status

If you already have a pistol permit, keep in mind that you will need to re-certify that permit on a regular basis. It does not take long, but it is something that you need to do to retain that permit.

New Laws In New York

This week, Governor Hochul signed three new bills that strengthen safety warnings, refine how credit card companies track gun purchases, and add pistol converters to the definition of rapid-fire modification devices.

"Legislation S.744/A.436 will ensure there are penalties for using 'pistol converters,' which are rapid-fire modification devices that can be easily attached to semi-automatic pistols to make them even deadlier by allowing rapid fire with one pull of the trigger".
