Everything You Need To Know About The North Tonawanda Dyngus Day Parade
Buffalo is considered the Dyngus Day capital of the world. While most cities across the country don't celebrate Dyngus Day, it's so big here that we have multiple parades to mark the occasion.
There are two big parades in Buffalo for Dyngus Day
Western New York knows how to throw a party. For Dyngus Day, you can even choose which one to go to. There's a huge party in Buffalo, and another big one in North Tonawanda. While the one in Buffalo has been around for decades, the one in North Tonawanda is a little newer. But they're both a great time.
The information for the Buffalo parade will be coming soon, but North Tonawanda shared its info today to make sure people could make their plans.
Everything you need to know about the North Tonawanda Dyngus Day celebration
What: The North Tonawanda Neighborhood Watch 6th Annual Dyngus Day Parade - Dyngus Day is always held the day after Easter. It's a day to celebrate Polish culture, eat Polish food, and drink Polish drinks. There are parades with people who are squirting people with squirt guns, and others smacking people with pussy willows. It's crazy.
Where: The parade route has been changed. This year, participants will line up on Thompson Street between Oliver Street and Lincoln Avenue before traveling along Oliver Street, Goundry Street, and Webster Street, crossing the Renaissance Bridge into the City of Tonawanda. The parade will conclude near Canal Street, where the free after-party will take place at the Canal Street Pavilion.
When: Monday, April 6, with the parade stepping off at 5:00 p.m.
