Brett Alan and I said it at just about the same time. "Phil Vassar was amazing!" The early afternoon rain ended just in time Saturday for Vassar to light up the stage at the Down Home Country Weekend to benefit the Langford-New Oregon VFD.

The Langford weekend is one that I circle on the calendar every year. It has been awhile since we have heard from Phil Vassar and I wasn't sure what we would get from his live show.

IT WAS FANTASTIC! Yes, Vassar had to play his hits like "Just Another Day in Paradise" and "I'll Take That as a Yes." But he also went through a selection of songs he wrote for others including "I'm Alright."

Phil Vassar ended the night with his version of Billy Joel's "Piano Man."  The crowd may not have been as big as other years, but you wouldn't have known it by the way they responded to Vassar and the way they sang along with every lyric.

Country music from the 1990's still stays at the top of the list of my favorites and seeing Phil Vassar on Saturday reminded me of just how great those songs still are to hear live!

Two great Western New York bands, Barnstorm and West of the Mark-opened and closed the show on The Langford stage.

Thanks to Adam Draudt from MAD Pulling Pics for the photos!
