In our house, nothing gets in the way of a good breakfast. One of the preferred activities my fiancee and I enjoy is going our for a late-morning breakfast on our days off.

Having sampled some of the best Western New York has to offer, it's safe to say breakfast stops aren't hard to come by in Buffalo.

Here are some of the best around:

The Poked Yolk

This place is one of the best restaurants in Western New York, yes, it's that good. They're always packed, doesn't matter if it's a weekend or weekday.

My favorite items are the waffles but always have to get some eggs and hash with it as well. They have two locations -- one on Transit Road in Depew and the other on Abbott Road near New Era Field.

Sophia's

Like the Poked Yolk, this place has become a hugely popular breakfast stop. If you love pancakes, waffles and crepes, this place is for you. So many different flavors and toppings.

They also have a huge selection of tasty skillets and even a seafood Benedict. The hardest part of going here is choosing what you want.

Located on Military Road in Buffalo.

Betty's

Betty's serves breakfast Tuesday through Friday and they got some classics but also some great dishes that are unique and awesome, such as the "Carnitas Con Huevos" -- corn tortillas with pulled pork and salsa verde.

They also have "Broiled Grapefruit", which is topped with brown sugar. Nah, breakfast doesn't need to be healthy.

They're located on Virginia Street in Buffalo.

Bertha's

One of the best aspects of Buffalo are the hidden gems you have to look for. Bertha's Diner is one of them and they're gaining popularity, with this Step Out Buffalo post a great example.

Located on Hertel Avenue in Buffalo, this place has tons of great breakfast foods. Waffles and home fries are a can't-go-wrong option here and those might be my two favorite breakfast items.

Original Pancake House

I know, this isn't a local place, but it's still super good. It's always an option if I'm in the Amherst area on Niagara Falls Blvd or by the five corner intersection in Orchard Park.

The go-to items for me are anything waffles. I love the strawberry-topped waffles here.
