The Donovan building was built in 1962 and constructed from the former Lehigh Valley terminal on Main Street in downtown Buffalo. This 146,000 square foot building once housed 18 state agencies as well as state offices for elected officials.

After sitting vacant since 2005, the Donovan building is finally being demolished. In recent years, many of the people who built this building have been diagnosed and died of Mesothelioma, lung cancer and other asbestos-related diseases.

It was announced a few months ago that a new 96 room Courtyard by Marriott will be built in its place. This will be the first hotel as part of the downtown Buffalo Canalside development project.
