If you work in downtown Buffalo, you may need to find a different route to work.  After being closed for several weeks over the summer, the Michigan Avenue Lift Bridge will be closed again. However, it will be a scheduled close for only certain days of the week.

As of Monday, November 6, the Michigan Avenue Lift Bridge will be closed on weekdays between 9 AM - 3 PM. If you drive to work during those times, you may need to find an alternative route, but if you work before or after that time slot, you should be ok.

You can see the closure schedule below.

Monday, Nov. 6 from 9 a.m. until Friday, Nov. 10 at 3 p.m.

Monday, Nov. 10 from 9 a.m. until Friday, Nov. 17 at 3 p.m.

The reason that the bridge is closing is so the crews can complete construction on the same project that began earlier this year. The Department of Public Works confirmed that the bridge will be closed Monday, November 6 at 9am. The bridge closing shouldn’t be a long disruption, though. This project is expected to be completed by November 17.

The bridge will also be open on weekends during the next two weeks.

It’s better to be prepared for the bridge closure so you can plan ahead for your morning routine. If you need more time to get to work, that may mean you have to leave early. Especially if you work for General Mills.
