Walmart Gives Buffalo Businesses Chance To Put Products In Stores
Do you have a product that was born in Buffalo that you believe will do well if you can put it in front of people? This could be your chance.
The struggle with small businesses often is getting your product out into the world where people can see it. You've got something great, you just need everyone to know about it.
According to Statista, approximately 240 million people shop at Walmart every week. That is a lot of people. So what if you could get your product on their shelves?
Walmart offers Open Call
Walmart has been doing a program for the last 10 years called "Open Call." It's an opportunity for "entrepreneurs to apply to pitch their shelf-ready products that are made, grown or assembled in the U.S. to be sold in Walmart or Sam's Club stores or online." Last year over 1,100 small and medium businesses participated.
What do you need to do to take part in Open Call?
First of all, your product has to be "shelf ready." That means that it will be easy for retailers to get your products on shelves and into the hands of customers sooner. You can see more on shelf-ready products by clicking here.
They also have to be made, grown, or assembled in the U.S. That's easy if you are a local retailer or entrepreneur.
Then you just need to be sure to get your application in.
When is the application period?
The application period for Open Call is underway right now and will go on through August 18th. If they like your product, they will offer you a golden ticket and a chance to come pitch your product at Open Call in October.
