I’m always impressed with Buffalo.  It may be winter right now, temperatures at times might be freezing, and of course there is always the snow but that doesn’t seem to slow us down!

I had a friend that lives in Florida ask once if all we did during the winter was hibernate and wait for summer to come around but after checking out all the events happening this weekend alone I can definitely say that’s not true!

First of all if you have never checked out Hidden Valley Animal Adventure this time of the year might be the perfect time to go!  Hidden Valley Animal Adventure is exactly what the name says too.  Yes I know what you’re thinking.  Its winter and seriously how many animals can there be out and about but this place has it going on!  Take a 45 minute horse drawn sleigh ride through their exotic animal safari park.  You’ll get the chance to see the elk, bison, water buffalo, zebra and more in the beautiful winter environment.  This is the opening weekend of the sleigh rides and will hold other sleight rides on February 17th and March 3rd from 10a to 3p.  If you are thinking about going to this one you’ll need to make reservations first so make sure you check out their website w

Then on Monday I know some of us have off from work!  Instead of just sitting around the house in our pj's all day I suggest getting out and taking in the fresh air!  Monday the Tiff Nature Preserve has an event happening from 10:30am to 12pm.  It’s called Sleeping Trees of Winter.  Spending the day learning how Tifft’s trees and plants are sleeping and how they know who’s who without leaves to identify them!  Join everyone at Tifft for an indoor exploration of plant winter survival and then followed by an outdoor winter scavenger hunt on the trails!  It’s all happening Monday from 10:30 to 12p at the Tifft Nature Preserve.

Then since you will already be out and about on Monday make sure you make time to swing by the Buffalo History Museum.  Monday they will be holding their Martin Luther King Remembrance Program from 3pm to 5pm.  It’s a free event for everyone.  Join them as they honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King.

Finally looking forward to next weekend make sure you make time to head over to Delaware Park on Saturday Jan 26th for their event called Flurrious!  Flurrious is a winter festival held in Delaware Park around the Parkside Lodge that features an array of food, drink, and family events.  All the proceeds from this event will benefit the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy.  It’s Flurrious next weekend at Delaware Park!
