After a 3-game winning streak, the Buffalo Sabres played what can only be described as a lousy game to start their two-game Florida swing.  They generated only nine shots thru two periods while falling behind 2-0 and eventually lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-1.

The fans certainly got their money's worth Thursday night at First Niagara Center.  The Buffalo Sabres twice trailed by two goals 2-0 and 3-1, but they battled back against the Toronto Maple Leafs and emerged with a 5-4 win in a shoot-out.

The Buffalo Sabres, Rochester Americans, Rochester Red Wings and RIT announced a joint venture to have a 10-day outdoor hockey event at Frontier Field in Rochester. This will be only the second event of its kind.

The Buffalo Sabres made it tough on themselves by giving up a 2-0 lead and allowing the Montreal Canadiens to storm back with a pair of third period goals, but in overtime on the power play Steve Ott scored his second goal of the game to give the Sabres a 3-2 win.

The Buffalo Sabres always seem to be one step and one pass behind.  Losses have become pretty routine this season and they continue to find ways to lose.  A couple of things remain pretty consistent.  They've been playing some pretty bad hockey during the second period all season long and Sunday night in Washington was embarrassing.

Well, the NHL's new alignment is not perfect, that is for sure. The approval of the realignment was to better equip teams with more efficient travel and business efforts. In addition, there's a whole new playoff format as well. What does this mean for the Sabres?

For once the Sabres stayed out of the penalty box and it paid off.  One of the league-leaders in penalty minutes, the Sabres drew just one minor penalty while skating to a 3-1 win over the New York Rangers.  Marcus Foligno led the way with a pair of goals while after nearly a year and a half Jonas Enroth finally won a game.

It was a night where nothing went the way of the Buffalo Sabres.  The Philadelphia Flyers came out determined to end a 3-game losing streak and like so many other teams have this season they did it at the expense of the Sabres 3-2.

For the third straight game the Sabres went to overtime, then a shootout, but for the first time this season they fell.  The Rangers scored twice in shootout to beat the Sabres 3-2 in New York.The Sabres got into penalty trouble in the third period and it cost them.

For only the third time this season, the Sabres have a winning streak. Yeah, ok, it’s only two games but you have to start somewhere. The Sabres closed out a two-game sweep in Florida with a 4-3 shootout win over the Florida Panthers. Thomas Vanek and Jason Pominville scored in the shootout while Ryan Miller stopped both shots he faced in the shootout and 40 for the game.
