This Friday was the final game for the Buffalo Sabres but it was also the end of an era as legendary announcer Rick Jeanneret called his final game.

The Sabres have been honoring RJ all season long and they had one more special act on Friday to honor the man who has been the voice of the team since 1971. Several players during the game wore special skates to honor RJ.

According to the Tweet from Sean Shapiro, the idea to wear the skates came from Rasmus Dahlin.

The Sabres missed the playoffs for the 11th straight year and now have a 5% chance of getting the #1 overall pick in the 2022 NHL draft. Based on their odds, the Sabres are expected to get the 9th overall pick.

Jeanneret has had a Hall of Fame career. RJ is currently in several Hall of Fames including Sabres Hall of Fame, the Hockey Hall of Fame, the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame, the Buffalo Broadcasters Hall of Fame, the Township of Terrace Bay, Ontario's Sports Wall of Fame, and is an honorary member of the Bare Knuckle Boxing Hall of Fame.
