Speeding Ticket Excuses That Worked in Western New York
Everybody knows you are not supposed to speed, but sometimes it happens. Whether you are trying to go with the rest of traffic or you are running late to your job, you have probably been caught speeding at least once. Or maybe you haven’t been caught, but you are conscious that you were speeding.
And we both know that speeding is bad, but sometimes that foot gets heavy. I’m not saying that you should speed, because you definitely should not. It’s not safe, and that’s why the city of Buffalo is taking necessary precautions to limit the “need for speed” as much as possible.
It’s safe to say you have driven over countless speed humps on some of Buffalo’s residential streets, sure, and if you have an older car that is rusting out (like me), you probably lost your exhaust system on a speed bump before (true story).
Luckily, we have a lot of understanding police officers in Western New York that simply understand sometimes life happens, and they have a soft spot when it comes to these excuses to speeding.
1. Ronnie Milsap Made Me Speed
As someone who is an avid country music fan, I can 100% see why this would happen.
2. I Was On My Way To Work
3. Name Drop
I'm always jealous of people who can name drop anywhere.
4. Learning To Drive Stick
5. My Son Had To Pee
Ah..yes. I love when you're saved by the kid!
6. Going To Church
Jesus must have been watching over you there!
7. On A Tight Schedule
8. My Son's Wedding Day
Emotions are already high on a day like that...the last thing you needed was a speeding ticket.
9. My Daughter Burst Into Tears
Another kid rescue!
10. Picking Up My Pet
Ok, this made me cry. That's a good cop right there.
11. I Just Worked A Double
It doesn't hurt that you're a nurse, too!
12. My Daughter Gave Herself A Nose Bleed
Exactly, Lexi! Always helping mom out...haha!
13. First Day After Receiving My License
Hey, but I bet you learned something!
14. My Wife Ran Away
Nothing like a classic joke to lighten the mood.
15. Going On A Date
Now I have to know...were you actually going on a date...with his coworker?
16. Have To Go... #2!
Yeeaaaah...keep it moving.
17. My Name
Ahhhh the name drop rears its head again!
18. Bee In The Shirt
Anyone could understand this one. Been there, done that, Barbara!
I guess Benjamin Franklin was right when he said, “Honesty is the best policy.” You shouldn’t lie your way out of a ticket. Just be honest with the police officer that pulled you over, and chances are, they will understand your situation because police are people, too.
The City of Buffalo will be adding “seven-foot-long speed humps” to some of the most popular residential streets to combat speeding and slow traffic in those areas to about “15 miles an hour,” according to a recent report from WGRZ.
The affected streets have yet to be determined, but any resident or neighborhood can apply before August 1st to be part of the Slow Streets initiative. You can click here for the application.
